CARE INSTRUCTIONS

By taking care of your Varax products, they will stay better for longer. Here are tips on how to set up, maintain and recycle your products.

Before you decide to recycle an item, think about whether it could be repaired, sold or donated to someone else. Spare parts for most of our products are available from our retailers. From them you can order cushions, canopies, roof racks and screw bags for your Varax product. Screw bags contain all the small parts of the product in question, such as screws, nuts, plastic feet and suspension hooks.

BUTTERFLY CHAIR

Your Butterfly chair cover stays beautiful with good care and regular maintenance.

Our fabric covers are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use and the artificial leather covers are only suitable for indoor use.

CLEANING
  • Remove loose dirt and dust by gently vacuuming.
  • Remove stains immediately from all fabrics. Dampen a clean white cloth and try cleaning the stain first on an inconspicuous spot.

WOOD

Wood is a natural material with small cracks and knots.

The wooden parts of our products are treated with either stain, varnish or dip-paint, but temperature fluctuations, rain and sun will take their toll on the surface of the wood. Dirt and moisture on the surface can also cause the formation of surface mould.

With repeated and proper care, you will extend the life of the product considerably.

PROTECTION

Protect your furniture from dirt and weather, for example with a protective cover or by storing it under a roof.

Do not cover damp or wet wooden furniture and avoid direct contact with the ground.

In winter, garden and yard furniture should be stored in a dry and well-ventilated place.

MAINTENANCE TREATMENT

We recommend treating the wooden surface when the paint surface starts to look worn and weathered, but the paint is still attached to the substrate.

  1. Before repainting or oiling, always remove any dirt and dust from the surface.
  2. Wash the furniture thoroughly with a sponge and, depending on the condition of the furniture, a paint cleaner or soap. If mould has appeared on the furniture, you can try a mould wash. In this case, follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
  3. After washing, you can remove any sticks and irregularities by sanding the surface parallel to the grain of the wood. Remove the sanding dust with a dry cloth.
  4. Then mix your chosen surface treatment thoroughly and repeat if necessary during the treatment. If you have chosen a paint for the finish, it may be a good idea to paint the furniture first with an adhesion primer. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
  5. Allow the paint or oil to dry and repeat the process until you are satisfied with the paint surface or the wood has absorbed enough oil. Remember to allow the product to dry thoroughly before use.

RECYCLING

Before you decide to take an item to a recycling centre, consider whether it could be repaired, recycled into something else, sold or donated to someone else. Spare parts for most of our products are available from our retailers.

Many recycling stations have a separate Treated or Coated wood collection point where painted and surface-treated wood parts can be delivered. Such wood waste may contain small metal parts such as nails, screws and fittings.

However, you should still check the instructions for recycling painted and surface-treated wood in your area and at your collection point, as they may vary from region to region.

CUSHIONS

You prolong the life of your Varax cushion with good care and regular maintenance.

The fabrics used in our cushions are OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified, so there are no traces of allergenic, irritating or toxic substances.

The fabric is made of 50% cotton and 50% polyester and the cushion is filled with crushed foam.

PROTECTION

Move cushions away from rain and storms, but if the cushions happen to get wet, let them air dry properly.

In winter, it is advisable to store your cushions in a dry and well-ventilated place.

CLEANING
  • Gently vacuum to remove loose dirt and dust.
  • Remove stains immediately. Dampen a clean white cloth and try cleaning the stain first in an inconspicuous area.

Today there is not yet a recycling system for cushions. Follow the waste sorting guidelines for your area.

GALVANISED PRODUCTS

We manufacture our galvanized products from steel that is coated with zinc to prevent corrosion.

They are well suited for outdoor use and harsh environments due to their durability.

BEFORE USE

Before use, wipe the protective wax off the surface of the pipes with a dry cloth.

MAINTENANCE

Damaged surfaces should be repaired as soon as possible, even if the mere surface rust does not affect the use or lifetime of the product.

  • The damaged area can be carefully sanded and sprayed with, for example, a dark zinc spray. When doing so, follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
RECYCLING

Before you decide to take an item to a recycling centre, consider whether it could be repaired, recycled into something else, sold or donated to someone else. Spare parts for most of our products are available from our retailers.

Metal products made of galvanised pipes are usually only accepted at manned collection points or through rotating collections. Follow the waste sorting guidelines for your area.

ALUMINIUM

Products made of aluminium, such as Varax Dock ladders, are best suited for use in inland waters such as lakes and rivers, as aluminium reacts with salt water and chlorine.

CLEANING

Aluminium products are durable, but you should also maintain them to keep your product looking as good as new for as long as possible.

  • Aluminium furniture can be cleaned regularly with mild water and mild detergent.
  • Test cleaning on a small inconspicuous area first to make sure you don’t damage the surface of the product.

Aluminium is one of the most recyclable metals, as it can be recycled almost indefinitely without deterioration in quality or properties.

POWDER COATED METAL

The frames of our powder-coated products are either aluminium or steel. Prior to powder coating, the steel is pre-treated with Bonderite NT, which provides better corrosion protection compared to normal iron phosphating.

Powder coating is a durable and environmentally friendly method of metal surface treatment that improves the quality and wear resistance of the metal surface.

MAINTENANCE

Metal products are durable, but you should also maintain them to keep your product looking as good as new for as long as possible.

  • Powder coated surfaces should be cleaned regularly with a mild soap water and a soft brush or sponge to prevent dirt and contaminants from accumulating on the surface of the product.

Damaged surfaces should be repaired as soon as possible, although surface rust alone will not affect the use or lifetime of the product.

  • The damaged area can be carefully sanded and patched with a paint suitable for metal. When doing so, follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
